Bound into Volume I is an autograph manuscript leaf containing lines from "Concord Walks".
The manuscript leaf reads, "Make a calendar, your own, of the year, that you may never miss your favorites in their month, whether birds, or flowers, or stars. As Linnaeus made a dial of plants, so shall you of all the objects that guide your walks."
This segment of writing was printed on page 174 in Volume XII, Natural History of Intellect.
8vo. Twelve Volumes. Publisher's deluxe three-quarter brown leather over brown cloth covered boards, stamped in gilt top edges gilt, other edges untrimmed; some pages partially unopened. Titlepages printed in red and black. Illustrated with photogravure frontispiece in each volume, and numerous photogravures throughout the set.
Condition note Volume I: The Autograph leaf is separating along the center fold. ~1"tear in the bottom middle of the title page continuing through to both envelope pages around the manuscript, and the blank page behind it. Possibly old excessive glue stain around the bottom edge of the envelope page containing the manuscript, visible through to one page behind it. Please see photographs.
